Worship, Liturgy and Research
A Study Day for Postgraduates

The Society held a study day in November 2011 at King’s College London for students pursuing MA or PhD research in Liturgy and Worship. The day focused on current work in a rich and diverse field.

Student Papers given during the day were:-

C Haynes  :  'Little Eric goes to Mass': Liturgy and Mission among Children in Late Victorian Anglican Ritualism.  (Since published in Anaphora)

J Holmes  :  Tending My Sheep: Interpreting Childhood Baptism

S Edmonds  :  Eschatological Tensions and the Eucharistic Sacrifice:  Some Contemporary Anglican Reflections

K Naylor   :  The liturgical significance of the altar or holy table in the Church of England from 1662 to the present day

A Bishop  :  Liturgy, Society and Parish Communion: An Unfinished Project?

J Templeton  :  What's the Problem with God the Father?  The Effect of Impersonal references to God in Liturgy

The day was a useful opportunity for students at different stages of research to hear a sample of research papers, presenting work in progress, across the breadth of disciplines and methodological approaches which represent the field of liturgical studies.

The Society hopes to hold another Study Day in 2013.

The Call for Papers for the Society’s Biennial Conference will be issued in the spring of 2012. Please see the conference page for more information.
